Let the Games Begin
Teaser:
Carrie looked on as her maker was dragged away. She stiffened with fear. Suddenly she was thrown over someone’s shoulder, it was Marcus. Instead of just kicking, screaming and begging him to let her go, she remained still and silent. He always liked it better when she was scared and trying to fight him off. She closed her eyes trying to control her emotions.
Show no fear.
“Why did you bring me here? Why are we even here?” She asks as he puts her on the couch. She was surprised by the steadiness in her voice and the lack of fear. Marcus frowned, not liking or used to her fearlessness. At first, he thought to remain silent, but changed his mind.
“Your maker,” he started with disdain, “committed treason. You know well enough that is punishable by true death.” Carrie scoffs, scowling at him.
“Bullshit, Markus!” She shouted, shocked by her own anger and confidence. “This has nothing to do with Sophie Ann! This is about me!” Why did she not fear him right now? Why was she not concerned being in the presence of the man who terrorized her for years? Marcus widened his eyes with shock, then smirked with amusement.
“Well, look who grew a backbone…I remember when you used to cower in fear of me, complete with tears. It’ll be fun to beat that out of you again.” He purrs with a glint in his eyes. Carrie sneers at him.
“I’m not afraid of you anymore!” She growled. He gives a laugh, then steps forward, getting into her face.
