Painful Memories

Carrie smirked at her maker, then giggled. Deep down though, she was terrified. Instead of going out to the bar, she sped downstairs to the basement. Down there, she could be alone to break down for a few minutes and it'll at least be an hour before everyone arrives for the meeting. She needed this time to think. It frightens Carrie that Markus is coming back to get his revenge. Despite everything Jade taught her, she still couldn't manage to let go of this piece of her past.

God help her, over the centuries she has tried...really tried, but it still haunts her to this very day. In a way, she feels like she has failed Jade; who has taught her to be strong, self-sufficient and to never show any weakness. And she failed her. Carrie had feared this day would come, that he would come back to take her away from the life she has built. Even break her in the worst way possible. Mind her, it took her a few centuries to rebuild her self-esteem and confidence, but this time, there may be no going back; she may be lost to pain and anguish.

It bothers Carrie that Jade is calm about all this! Doesn't she know the cruelty Markus is capable of? He's the Magister for goodness sake! He has the power to strip them of everything, whether they like it or not. She should definitely have more faith in Jade, she hasn't let her down yet. Just look what she has done for Eric and how he handled Appius. Another cruel motherfucker who got off easy.

Perhaps, Markus won't get the quick true death like Ocella did. In that, Carrie relaxed; She remembers what happened after she woke up 4 centuries ago in place she did not recognize. She smiled sadly at the memory.

Pain shot through her body as she woke up. Her eyes fluttered open and realized she was not in a cold cell at a brothel, but in a nice warm bed inside a bedroom. She had no idea where she was. She looked around, panic rising in her. Her first thought is Markus finally got tired of her and sold her to highest bidder. Tears pooled in her eyes.

"There's no need for that, dear." A soft voice said. Carrie looked around the dark room, unable to pinpoint the voice, but upon hearing it she relaxed; her instincts telling her this woman meant her no harm.

"Who's there?" She gasped in a whisper.

"I'm no one you know, Hun. But you do know my associate who fed on you the other night." There was a pause, then she heard the mystery woman sigh. "Don't be frightened of me. I have no intention of hurting you…just to help you, if you want it." Jade didn't need to mince words with the girl. She was very much aware the existence of vampires, and it seems she hasn't been glamored at all.

"Who are you? How did I get here?" Carrie asked in a stronger voice. The lights turned on, and Carrie spotted a woman right in front of her bed. She gasped at the sight of her, mesmerized by her beauty and glow. She was gorgeous. They observed each other, curious about one another. Jade had her hands behind her back, looking relaxed, and soft. Carrie could tell immediately she was very much a dangerous woman. And for some reason, she instantly trusted her.

"My name is Jade Valentine. And you are at my home in my guest bedroom. I found you naked and beaten in an alley." As soon as Jade stopped speaking, Carrie was instantly filled with fear finally remembering what happened before she ended up in this beautiful bedroom. She started sobbing as thick drops of tears rolled down her cheeks. Jade moved to the right side of the bed, going to comfort the girl, but she moved away.

"Please, don't touch me!" She sobbed. Jade stopped in her tracks, crossing her arms over her chest. "You have to let me go! If he finds me here, he'll kill me!" She yelled, panicking.

"I guess we'll have to change that, won't we?" She says casually with a smirk. Carrie gave her a confused look, not understanding what she meant by that.

"Don't you understand?! Markus is my master…and a very cruel one. If he finds out you took me, he'll destroy you!" She says with a sob. Jade raised an eyebrow at her, then gave a humorless laugh.

"The little bastard can try." She growled, her eyes glowing a menacing red. Carrie gasped at the look on her face, not scared but mesmerized. Why did she get the feeling that her master wouldn't get past this woman?

"What can you do?" she retorts with a hoarse voice. Jade gave a smile.

"I'm older and stronger than Markus is. There isn't a damn thing he can do to stop me." Jade paused, the sat on the bed next to her. "I can help you, Carrie…I can help you get out this situation you're in. No man has the right to take your choices away and force you to do things you aren't comfortable with." She says with sincerity. She could tell that Jade was being sincere.

Carrie closes her eyes, years and years of pain hitting her all at once. Oh, how it could be easy to just take Jade's offer. But it was fruitless. Markus will find her, no matter where she goes. And he will punish her severely for trying to escape.

"I c-can't. He'd find me no matter what." She says, more tears sliding down her face. Jade's heart broke for the girl. She was so afraid of that asshole, that she didn't bother believing Jade could save her. So how could she fix that? An idea formed in her head, and one she really hated. Jade was going to have to let Markus find her, then she would take over from there.

She hated giving Carrie back to that monster, but how else was she going to believe her? By seeing it with her own two eyes.

Jade remained in Eric's office looking where Carrie once stood. She could tell by the look on Carrie's face that she needed time to think. This is going to be very hard on her. This is a man who terrorized her for a little under a decade, and now he is coming back to claim her and maybe kill Jade. She could feel her youngest progeny through the bond; terror, sadness, confusion and fear. She's probably confused by Jade's nonchalance.

Jade has nothing to worry about. She's over four thousand years old; Markus's comfy little position as Magister will not protect him from Jade Valentine. Markus is going to use the tribunal to publicly humiliate Carrie and Jade for humiliating him so long ago. Jade laughed at this. Little does he know this is the perfect opportunity for her to get close enough to eliminate him.
Sometimes, these assholes just make it waayy too easy for her.
